Ok so it’s been a while since I actually wrote an entry.  Well, a few things have happened.  Last Thursday I took Lucas to the aquarium at the Gateway, with his daycare.  The daycare had me watch 4 boys, Lucas being one of them.  It really wasn’t that bad, and I think I was pretty good at it.  I didn’t really get to enjoy watching the fish – I think I could have set up a lawn chair in front of the Moon Jellyfish – they were fascinating, and in a cool looking tank that was designed to show them off (otherwise you might not even see them – they are transparent enough!

They had a shark tank, also, filled with rad sharks, like Leopard Sharks, and something like 7 other species, that didn’t have spots.

Anyway, then the kids ran around in the Dancing Waters at the Gateway (which, I’ve just found out, was done by the same company that did the water display at the Bellagio in Vegas.  Fascinating.)  I didn’t think Lucas would be down for it, but he was down for it, allright – he was a water fiend!

I think that he’s really having a good time being in daycare, it really makes me less worried about how he’ll fare in school, socially.  I’m not really worried about how he does in school, work-wise, it’ll probably be a while before he actually learns something new.

Anyway, enough of that – in other things I’m just about ready to go back to school, and I couldn’t be more ready – I’m tired of being at home, sitting on my ass.  I thought that I’d get some programming done, but I haven’t gotten anything done at all.  Oh well.

Hey, that reminds me, part of the reason I didn’t get anything done was because I had a very strong urge to re-play Ultima 7, Ultima 7 Part 2, and finally play Ultima 9.  (Ultima 8 sucked ass.)

I finished Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle (which is Ultima 7 part 2, for those of you keeping score at home.)  I started to play Ultima 9.  I tried hard.  I was getting in to the storyline, it seemed to progress fast enough, and having an entire world to explore was really cool.  It really is too bad – the damn thing keeps crashing on me, so I’m not sure I can even play it 🙁

I guess now I can see why EA closed Origin’s doors (a puppet company runs the UO aspect.)

The Hi-C isn’t all right. I almost drank the whole cup I poured myself before noticing the rancid aftertaste.

Oh well, I probably won’t die.

Sukie and I saw Farenheit 911 the other day. I’ve been a fan of Michael Moore since his FOX show, TV Nation. Of course, this was back when FOX had balls. Oh well. So, for such a big fan, what else have I seen of his?

* cricket’s chirping *

Ok, so, in retrospect, I’m not such a huge fan — but that doesn’t mean I don’t like him. I have liked what I have seen.

Anyway, Farenheit 911 was an extrememly moving movie – I almost cried at least two times and silently muttered ‘Those Fuckers’ to myself at least a dozen times. I don’t think I’ve really been moved THAT much in a movie in a long time – especially on someone else’s behest, that is, the emotions I was feeling was a reaction – something even more than empathy.

With a movie about war, it would have been easy to shock the audience in to submission with graphic images of war – but I think that Michael Moore is perhaps a bit more skilled than this – while there are graphic images, there are by far many more shocking statements in the movie.

I can hardly beleive the shocking assertions at the end of the film, as he draws his documentary to a close – so much so that I don’t think it’s hardly fair to assert them here.

Most of all, what he wants us to feel isn’t really clear – it’s clear he doesn’t like the way the Bush administration has been doing things, and it’s clear that he’d rather have done things differently – it’s not clear what he wants us to do next.

To many, they’d feel outraged to the point that they would vote for the Democratic party – Michael Moore never tells us to do this – he never even mentions it. Many things about his documentary don’t focus on the things that matter right now – the things that he focuses on are the larger things – the motivating factors behind the wrongdoings – are the things we will focus on in 20 to 50 years. He doesn’t apply labels to groups – he applies labels to actions, and only actions.

The film, overall, is a reminder of how duped we’ve been as a nation. Ultimately, being reminded of this upset me, but I was uplifted that somebody finally said something about the wrong happenings in this nation.

Good job, Michael Moore. Good job 🙂

I just watched the Butterfly Effect. Wow, what an astonishing movie.

I also realized what the psychic was saying – “You’re not supposed to be here!”, and what his Dad was saying – What is right?

Basically, reality boils down to just a few things – there are no coincidences, and that there is, historically, no right way. Once things have been decided, on a quantum level, this is how they exist, ergo Schroedinger’s Cat.

In the last several months, I have seen, in my own life, the connections between occurances, and I really don’t beleive in coincidence anymore. Everything happens for a reason, it’s as simple as that.

I changed the layout, I wrote this one manually. No cool GFX yet, but I can do ’em later 😛 For now this is looking good enough for me.

How do you like it, overall?

Well, Sukie and I got to bed rather early last night. My sinuses are all out of wack, and I’ve been feeling crappy.

Well, the last couple of days, I’ve been playing Ultima VII on my PC thanks to Exult, which I’ve also hooked Dax up with. At this point I’m working my way through the game and I’m thinking of how I’d like to build stuff in the game, and maybe even make improvements on it, like adding netcode to the game.

I first played Ultima VII probably about 10 years ago and it’s really a great game. In my head I’m already going over things that I would change about it, but that’s because now I could probably crank up the source code and get cracking on improvements – 10 years ago I couldn’t, though I dreamed about it.

Well, anyway, so last night Sukie asked me who at work was playing it that I decided to give it a go again – I was slightly offended that she didn’t think I was capable of picking a game to play by myself.

Anyway, that’s what I did.

I’ve been talking to some of the Exult Devs and they say it’d be very hard to interpolate the avatar’s position from block to block. I gotta say, I pretty much want to do it, someday. It’d be cool.

Anyway, my head feels like shit today so I’ll be going.

Ok, so I’ve been spending a lot of time at home, but haven’t found time to blog. I can see now why so many people blog about blogging, because it’s the foremost thing on their minds … while they’re blogging.

Anyway, I’ve been lazy. Really. Sukie was insisting last night that I was in a funk, but I don’t think that was actually the case.

I think I’m a little overwhelmed with everything I’m learning at work, so much so that my mind is a literal haze of information, and I have to fight my way in and out of conscious thought until this info is finally absorbed. That’s the thing about information – you have to let it sink in – you can’t cram it or force it.

Anyway, did I mention that I’ll be working weekends again? Yeah. Just great. Well, it certainly does give me time to spend with the boy, and that’s great, but I will certainly miss my Sukie time.

theorb and Antigone are coming down this weekend. Usually they have to have a reason to come down, but I think this time it’s because they love us. They want to play Anime Spycraft, which sounds like it might be interesting, but I gotta say, honestly, I don’t think I’m in the mood. Well, I’m not in the mood for a lotta stuff, actually.

I think I might actually make a MTG deck tomorrow. So … yeah!

Ok, so I added a counter, just for fun. It’s not a unique IP counter like I have on my front page or anything, but whatever.

Also, theorb77 is in town this weekend. He’s got a job interview and I hope he aces it. Good Luck!
