Well, I’m out here, and in the open.
Sure, it’s WordPress’ default layout, but I’ll change that … eventually.
Well, I’m off to aid theorb in what should be a terrific catastrophe.

Ok kids, I’m coming out of blog-tirement, to bring you a special message.
In a recent blog entry, theorb77 expressed his secret hope that maybe if he expelled some of his orb juices he’d be able to make time stand still, and we’d be able to stay in the happy moments.
Well, this brings me back to why I’ve been absent in the first place. For one, I said something on Meryl’s little journal and from what I’ve heard, it didn’t go over well.
I said, “Marriage, and change, are like chinese finger traps – the more you struggle with it, the harder it becomes.
We are creatures of before and after – you need to pause, and look at now. Now you are married, now you have a mess, now you can do something about it.”
Now, from what I can understand, this was taken as ‘your marriage is your problem, deal with it.’ That’s great. I churn out poetry and it gets taken for shit.
So, what was the point? There’s nothing that says, “I’m a loser and I’m going to stay that way,” like constantly complaining about your situation, isn’t there? Did complaining ever help anybody?
The point is, you can’t really change the fact that you are where you are – but you are where you are, and right here, right now is the only place and time you can do anything about it.
Well kids, 2 things – I hate my new neighbors, and I probably won’t have any internet until Monday, at the earliest. The new neighbors had cable installed today (internet, tv, and phone), so, of course, ComCast jacked my shit up. They literally butched the Cat-V cable running from the Qwest box to my house (but they so nicely taped it back together again!)
Another thing, is either the guy living over there, or his son, are turning up the stereo during the day. That’s annoying, innit? So, try as I may to ignore it, that, combined with the lack of internet made me crazy, and I had to leave for a while.
I want a house now.
So what’s Wudan been up to? Well, I have been cooking up a lot of projects, and I’ve been working hard.
My goals at this point consist of just a few things: finish up some projects, get some certifications. My college sent me a nice letter and an evaluation to show me how close I am to getting my Bachelors in Business.
To tell the truth, I intend on wrapping up my Associates and walking away from Business curriculum. It’s boring, and, at this point, all that’s left for my Bachelors is 60 credit hours of ELECTIVES.
Tell me, if all that’s standing between an Associates and a Bachelors, at my fine institution, is 60 hours of ELECTIVES … oh, toss it, I’m sure you see the stupidity.
I found GLFW the other day and saw that it was, essentially, the exact sort of thing I was trying to write, only it’s already done and free to use. So, what the heck, I grabbed it up and got to work. I’m telling you, it’s beautiful when you take something out of the box and it works, first time out.
Well, maybe not first time out, but it was painless.
Oh, and I went and downloaded some Pulp Techno off the iTunes, too. I did that because … well, I don’t know.
I define Pulp Techno as Electronic music that has obtained some mainstream popularity or commercial success. So, the stuff I got you could hear on car commercials and those intel commecials.
Ok, so Dax hooked me up with a shiteload of iTunes downloads. With them I set out to find good electronic music to make a good CD with. During my perusings I came upon O Fortuna, which you probably won’t recognize as a strong choral peice (in Latin) which has a very chilling sound to it (as most Latin songs do.) I was curious to find the meaning of the song, since it sounds like it’s from an Opera, although not an aria, per se.
Anyway, the song strikes a chord with me because it is about misfortune – and fortune in general. Often, this is what happens when a truly gifted artist sets out to portray something through music – they create something really, really, REALLY good. If you’ve heard any of Monteverdi’s Vespers, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’m not even that Christian (and definitely not Catholic), but it is, to me, very striking music.
Anyway, ’nuff about that.
Work has been rough tonight 🙂 That’s putting it mildly. I hope you’re all having a good time.
I give you David Duchovny’s blog. Oh sure, he may not have the absolut geeky charm of Zack Braff, but do I need to remind you that David Duchovny is not just steeped in geek culture, he is one of the Gods of the Geek Pantheon.
Well, nuff about that. Work, though I rarely mention it, has been going well. I’ve been learning tons.
The bad part about work is that I go for days at a time without seeing my wife 🙁
Jabba’s been sick, but he’s on the mend. Yesterday he woke up furiously hungry, which is a good sign. Today he’s good enough to run some errands with me.
So last night I almost lapsed and bought that Willie Nelson song off of iTunes … today I probably will. Or maybe I’ll track down some Amon Tobin 🙂
Ok kids, today was a hum-dinger.
I got another free download on iTunes today, and so I used my two remaining iTunes downloads on Amon Tobin’s El Cargo (from the Splinter Cell 3 soundtrack), and Nine Inch Nails The Hand That Feeds. Both are from albums that I am intent on owning ASAP anyway 🙂 I also bought the Bad Cartridge Remix of Beck’s E-Pro, by Paza of The X-Dump. It’s a catchy tune and I was feeling saucy so I bought it.
What can I say, I’ve almost got enough good stock to make a nice little CD for myself. Well, that and I obtained some Minibosses from this thing called the Internets.
Stuff is funnier when it’s plural – I guess my Mormon ancestors were on to something!
Hate-mongering aside, today was a rough day. As Jabba put it, ‘I don’t think it’s spring.’ So, like, my mom needed a jump at 11am, shortly before I need to get Jabba to school. I was in the middle of making a before-school snack (the boy just ate and ate today!) and my mom called and said she needed a jump. I had only a vague idea of where my cables were so I called up theorb77 and got his voicemail. Well, I wasn’t about to let my mom get stuck out there, other people have always helped me out when I’m stuck in a jam, so I mobilized the fleet, found my damn jumper cables and scooted my ass to the ‘sphault with Jabba en tow!
I arrived on the scene to find a cold and worried Canoe (my mommy), and hooked up those cables and got to it. Well, the car started and I drove with her back to her house and woke up poor Dax with loud knocking. Then I took Jabba to school, he was just a tiny fraction of a minute late. I checked back at the house to see if Sukie was home for lunch and she was, and I’m always glad to see Sukie. She’s my whole goddamn world, yo.
Then I scooted back over to the Auto-Zonezz where my mom and Dax were waiting for me (I hope not too long!) and they said to hit up the Wally WOrld for some quality Car Care. Ok, so they were gonna fix it, and I thought it might take HOURS and Dax had to get to work, so while we were at the Wendys we were formulating how it all was going to go down. It was possible to get Dax to work if the car wasn’t done in time if we enlisted theorb77 to our cause, but I’d already spoken to him earlier and he was less than sympathetic to our cause.
Which reminds me, theorb77, I’m reasonably upset with you.
Whew, what a week it’s been. Sukie’s at a new job, I’m at a new location, doing, for a change, local administration instead of remote administration. All this hands-on access, combined with working with such talented people, has inspired me to seek out some additional certifications. Well, that, and finish up school 🙂
The day I had at work last Wednesday was making me feel less leet than ever, I was just being overwhelmed, and I realized that stress makes me lose, like … 100 IQ points, bringing me down to like … 135 or something. I was seriously stressing it, and then I remembered, I am leet – I taught myself to write computer programs. (You have to learn Computers!) So I’ve been reading a networking primer to refresh myself, and sharpen my skills.
Things are going well, I suppose.
Today I BBQ’d for the first time this season, the burgers came out ok, it took forever for the coals to get hot enough though 🙁 I only ate a single burger, too.
I’ve been getting skinnier by eating smaller portions and avoiding fattier foods, and it’s starting to really show. To this end I will be eating turkey and swiss sandwiches for dinner instead of eating Arby’s or BK or somesuch.
Oh well, happy blogging 🙂
Ok kids, new layout 🙂 In 2 days it’ll have been one year of blogging for me, and I think that’s pretty cool 🙂
So Jabba and I went on a quest for M&M Minis, you’re supposed to be able to put a page from his Nickelodeon Magazine in it and make a red or a blue lightsaber 🙂 We went to Toys R Us, 7-11 (Jabba has a 7-11 joke for y’all – it’s not super funny, but it’s cute that he thought of it), and Albertson’s.
Nobody has them, but Jabba realized that M&M minis are in the regular check-out lanes, we did self-check-out, so we didn’t get any but we’ll go back sometime 🙂
I’m having a bitch of a time writing a physics simulation, I’ve tried so many times and failled. I know my math pretty well, but it’s tough … super tough.
Hey, I’m an amazing drinker!
| Bacardi 151 Congratulations! You’re 139 proof, with specific scores in beer (80) , wine (50), and liquor (130). |
| All right. No more messing around. Your knowledge of alcohol is so high that you have drinking and getting plastered down to a science. Sure, you could get wasted drinking beer, but who needs all those trips to the bathroom? You head straight for the bar and pick up that which is most efficient. |
